The story behind UK-based firm, Tentsile, goes back to 2010 when architect Alex Shirley-Smith created the first portable treehouse-cum-tent with the same name. Over the years, the company has specialized in designing some of the world’s most versatile above-the-ground tents. Their latest brainchild is Vista, a highly flexible and portable treehouse, featuring a removable roof as well as multiple stories that can be stacked one on top of the other.
An incredibly innovative hammock-styled tent, the Vista is similar to one of Tentsile’s previous models, namely Stingray, in design. Ideal for three adults or two adults and two children, the Vista tree-tent is suspended at about 1.2 m(4 feet) above the ground. Using three nearby trees as anchors, the floating treehouse is hung with the help of an equal number of ratchets and straps.
Being suspended midair, the Vista provides the users a comfortable and hassle-free way of camping, away from the bugs and insects crawling on the ground. The removable roof offers an unrestricted view of the surrounding landscape. The structure of the tent is crafted with the help of strengthened material, making the multiple floors a safe and fun way of exploring nature.
What makes this tent truly portable is that in between uses, it can be easily packed into a bag measuring around 59 x 25 x 25 cm ( 23 x 10 x 10 in). The entire setup weighs a total of 9 kg (19 lbs). The additional stories can be bought separately, at extra cost. Priced at $595, minus shipping, the Vista Tree Tent is available in a number of colors, including green, camo, orange and dark grey.
