Destiny is a grind fest. Now, that we got this ‘fact’ out of the way, a player who goes by the Reddit-name of yavin427, has contrived a nifty contraption that does the grinding for him. This ‘autonomous’ device constitutes the arrangement of two servomechanisms that were attached to an Xbox controller by means of tapes. The entire setup allowed the player’s onscreen Titan to repeatedly use its melee attack to kill enemies on the moon-based map of Ocean of Storms.

As for the effectiveness of this makeshift contrivance, this is what yavin427 had to say –

OK everybody, shows over. Woke up this morning to a brand new 20! Had about 3600 kills, and 900 deaths (lol), and like 50 green engrams. I started at level 16.5 yesterday afternoon, and reached 20 sometime while I was asleep. With the armor I had waiting for him he is now a 26.

To those just now joining us, I had a little fun with a couple of servos taped to an Xbox controller to repeatedly kill hive on ocean of storms for me. Background: I am a (semi?) serious player with 300+ hours and a 32, but when I went to level up my titan it felt so joyless. So this popped into my head as a fun little challenge.

He had also admitted that he could have achieved those levels in a faster manner if he was playing manually. But he has still defended in his groovy little joystick hack, by further adding –

To those saying it’s pathetic, i dont disagree with you. Thats why my post title shows some confliction. But it’s much less an exploit (least effective way to level up ever) than a bit of fun, just to see if it could be done, and no one else was negatively affected by it. Some people did get some laughs out of it though.
