Most among us will agree that Witcher 3 is an extremely demanding video game. Known for its breathtaking graphics, vast open world design and compelling story-line, Witcher 3 is unquestionably one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Sadly, it has remained beyond the reach of those with low-spec computers. Not anymore, though. In a recently-uploaded video, a YouTuber demonstrates how it can be played even in the most antiquated systems, thanks to a few smart tweaks to the game’s original files.
Using a set of external programs, LowSpecGamer has managed to modify some of Witcher 3’s Config files, making it more compatible with older machines. The video actually shows the game being played at 30 fps, on a computer with the following specifications:
CPU: Dual-core 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7-2637M
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M.
While the graphics is no way comparable with that of the original game, it does seem to be playable. In fact, it looks more like a PS2 game, with somewhat distorted shadows and low-resolution imagery. Interestingly, the tweaks, mentioned in the video, can be used by anyone interested in improving the game’s overall performance, even on the most advanced machines.
