Meet Max Braun, a Google engineer who has transformed his ordinary bathroom mirror into a futuristic screen that automatically displays an array of information, such as time, weather and even the latest news. Taking inspiration from science fiction movies, Braun has created an infographic, detailing all the things he used to build the innovative mirror of the future.
A long-time DIY enthusiast, Braun amassed a variety of both analog and hi-tech materials, including a display panel, a special two-way mirror, different types of electrical components, a controller board made in China and some arts and crafts supplies. Through an extensive process of trial and error, the designer finally zeroed in on the correct combination of parts required to make his dream come true.
The result, as you can see, is a sleek and incredibly futuristic mirror that allows Braun to jump start his day on the right note. The screen’s right side shows the current time and day of the week, while the left display a 24-hour weather forecast as well as the latest news headlines. The device, according to the developer, uses Google’s Android technology. Speaking about the project, which is still ongoing, Braun said:
The idea is that you don’t need to interact with this UI [user interface]. Instead, it updates automatically and there’s an open-ended voice search interface for anything else.
Braun is currently working out a way to display daily reminders and traffic information, as well. To know more about the designer and the project, head over to his Twitter, Medium and Instagram pages.
