Do you get especially lazy at the thought of doing laundry? Well, the student engineers at China’s Dalian Nationalities University have come up with the perfect solution, in the form of new and innovative Bike Washing Machine (also known as BiWa). As its name suggests, this highly inventive contraption allows you to wash your clothes, while pedaling on a stationary bike.

With the goal of bringing “health and convenience to our life”, the device combines a washing machine and a stationary bicycle into an efficient integrated system. So, you can now exercise and do your laundry, all at the same time without having to move around much. According to the developers, the way the contraption functions is quite simple. The folks at Tuvie explained:

When you ride this bike, the pedaling motion causes the drum of the washing machine to rotate; at the same time, superfluous electricity is generated which can be used to power the display screen or [be] stored for future use.

Given the small size of the washing machine drum, however, it would likely take several spin cycles before you are done cleaning an entire batch of clothes. While it could definitely be a major time-saver, especially for people who dislike doing laundry, not much is currently known about when the BiWa will be commercially available.
