In today’s busy world, few of us have the time or inclination to slog through classics thousands of pages long. To make our job a tad bit easier, Ontario-based cartoonist John Atkinson has taken it upon himself to provide abridgments of some of the most famous literary classics of all times. His versions, however, are in the form of humorous one liners and phrases that rightly summarize the novels’ plots in the simplest way possible.

The man behind Wrong Hands, Atkinson has dealt with a total of 12 classics, including Moby Dick, Beowulf, War and Peace, The Grapes of Wrath, Don Quixote, and Wuthering Heights, for his Abridged Classics and (More) Abridged Classics collection. Illustrated using the simple sketch of a book, each work carries a short caption that conveys the basic plot, while also evoking laughter.
